How to care for my larimar
Larimar can take care of you in different ways. For example, you can clean it by brushing it briefly with some water and immediately drying it again with a soft cloth. Note: Charging is best done in moonlight, as charging in sunlight too often can cause the color to fade.
Where does larimar come from?
Gemstones can often be found in different countries, right? Remarkably, larimar is found only in the Dominican Republic (especially in Los Chupaderos, which is located in the Sierra de Baoruco mountain range).
Larimar has only been on the market since the 1970s. This makes it one of the most recent gemstones to be discovered. Miguel Méndez is the discoverer of the stone and larimar is named after Larissa (his daughter) and the Spanish word mar, meaning 'sea'.
