Necklace with Toggle Clasp Inspi675
Necklace with Chapter Clasp
These summer necklaces are incredibly easy to make yourself with a few beautiful beads, large "chunky" charm, nylon wire and a chapter clasp. In no time, you can give any outfit a stylish boost! You can string the necklaces completely to your liking with your favorite beads.
I chose a gold necklace with 6mm aventurine beads, a large heart charm and an imitation pearl for some extra flair. Working with nylon wire keeps the necklace falling smoothly and makes it easy to create beautiful results no matter which beads you choose.
Will you go for cheerful bright colors or beautiful gemstones?
Supplies:
- Nylonthread (approx. 50 cm, depending on desired length)
- Toggle clasp (consisting of a ring and a bar)
- 6mm beads of your choice
- Jump rings 6mm
- Crimping beads
- 2 wire protectors (optional, but recommended for neater finish)
- Flat pliers
- Scissors or cutters
Step-by-step:
Step 1: Determine the length of your necklace
- Cut a piece of nylon wire about 10 cm longer than the desired length of your necklace. This will leave you with enough wire to finish.
Step 2: Attach one end of the chapter lock
- Thread a pinch bead and (optional) a wire protector onto the end of the nylon wire.
- Thread the wire through the ring of the chapter lock and then back through the wire protector and pinch bead.
- Slide everything tightly together, but make sure the lock is still free to move.
- Squeeze the pinch bead firmly flat with pliers so that it is secure.
- Cut the short end of the wire or thread it along with the first beads.
Step 3: Thread the beads
- Now thread your beads in the order and pattern you like. For example, use glass beads, gemstones or 6mm pearls. Leave about 5cm of nylon wire at the end for attaching the other part of the lock.
Step 4: Attach the other part of the chapter lock
- Thread another pinch bead and a wire protector if necessary.
- Thread the wire through the other half of the chapter lock (the rod) and then back through the wire protector and pinch bead.
- Tighten the wire until the beads are snug against each other, but not too tight (the necklace should be able to fall smoothly).
- Pinch the pinch bead firmly.
- Cut off the excess nylon wire.
Step 5: Attaching charms
- Choose the charms you want to add to the necklace. These can vary in shape and style (such as flowers, hearts, pearls or other figures).
- Use pliers to gently open the jumprings and hang a charm of your choice from the chapter clasp on the jumpring. Close the jumpring securely with the pliers.
Your necklace with toggle clasp is now ready to wear or give as a gift! You can vary with beads, colors and charms for a unique look.
